TEC 2016 Ohio State Business Plan Competition

The 2016 Ohio State Business Plan Competition is now underway in the Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (TEC) Institute at OSU. The competition aims to develop of technologies, provide students with educational workshops, and offer substantial resources for winning student teams to launch their ventures. 2016 Seed funding RFP is released

We are pleased to announce the 2016 OSU Materials Research Seed Grant Program Request for Proposals (RFP), which is open to The Ohio State University (OSU) materials community.  This enhanced seed program leverages resources and best practices of the Center for Emergent Materials (CEM), the Center for Exploration of Novel Complex Materials (ENCOMM), and the Institute for Materials Research (IMR).  The result is a unified RFP with Funding Tiers designed to achieve the greatest impact for seeding excellence in materials research of varying scopes, and with the goal of generating new directions that extend beyond the boundaries of existing research programs.

MRFN Funding Available for NSL Users

Funding Available to use NSL for Eligible Applicants

The Center for Emergent Materials is a member of the Materials Research Facilities Network, a nationwide partnership of the Shared Experimental Facilities (SEFs) supported mrfn_mrsec_transparent_logoby the National Science Foundation’s Material Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSECs). CEM participates in the MRFN through support of NanoSystems Laboratory (NSL).

Funding support is available to cover NSL user fees and/or travel expenses to Ohio State for eligible applicants. Ideal applicants will be collaborators or come from local institutions that otherwise would not have access to comparable research instrumentation. To apply, submit a one to two page description of work and broader impacts to cem@osu.edu.

This internal seed grant program is open to The Ohio State University materials community and offers two funding tiers, exploratory and multidisciplinary team building, to cover the breadth of materials research at OSU.

Do you have an idea for an outreach program? Funding is available from ICAM

ICAM announces the availability of $20,000 for SEE (Science, Engagement, and Education) Outreach Grants

ICAM is looking for SEE projects that will increase the greater public’s understanding of emergent phenomenon and the origins of complex behavior; and encourage science engagement between the research community (especially graduate students) and schools, museums, and the public at large.

$20,000 of funding will be split between 2 or 3 SEE grants.

CEM co-sponsors OSU’s ICAM membership, so CEM participants are eligible to apply.
