Activity Development Group
Members of the Activity Development Group will meet approximately 2 times per quarter to develop new hands-on demonstrations/activities targeted at various audiences. This group is responsible for gathering, purchasing and/or building the supplies/equipment required to put together "activity kits." This group is also responsible for training volunteers to use the activity kits.
K-12 and Public Workshops
K-5 Workshop

"Boing-Boing" Program for Third Graders: This program ties in with Larry Hench's "Boing-Boing" series of children's books about a bionic cat and his young owner. Approximately 20 3rd graders from Columbus School for Girls (CSG) will visit several departments and programs in engineering over the course of the school year, to learn about the engineering discipline through demonstrations and hands-on activities. (Sessions are 2-3 hours in length.)
Middle School Workshops
Breakfast of Science Champions (February 2009): This is a university-wide program that draws students and their teachers from around central Ohio to explore science, math, and engineering. Students and their teachers will return in April 2009 for a discussion about what they learned at the workshops. The First Breakfast of Science Champions was held in November 2008. (Workshops last approximately 2.5 hours- including breakfast.)
Future Engineers Summer Camp (August 3-7, 2009): The CEM will host a week-long summer day camp program to introduce 8th grade girls to engineering. Students will attend a series of _-day workshops throughout the College of Engineering. Students will also visit local companies.

High School Workshop
Engineers in Motion (July 5-10, 2009): Ninth and 10th grade girls and boys will meet for a week-long summer camp experience that will provide them with an opportunity to explore each subfield within engineering. Students will attend a series of _-day workshops throughout the College of Engineering.
Open to the Public Workshops
Electronic Experts at the Center of Science and Industry (COSI): This is a live videoconference, distance education outreach program that serves a local and national audience for students in grades 2-12. The sixty-minute program begins with a 20-minute presentation by the "expert" (developed in conjunction with COSI), followed by a question and answer sesion. (Experts typically offer their presentation 3 times a year.)
Technology & Innovation Showcase (Projected opening at COSI is January/February 2009): In conjunction with the opening of this new exhibit area, scientists and engineers will talk about latest in research, innovation, and the product development process.
Festival of Physics at COSI (aka "Wow! And How?") (November 2009): This is a weekend of fun physics activities, including hands-on activities related to the physics of materials as well as an opportunity to meet leading researchers in the field.
