Planning for the job market? Thinking about opportunities beyond as well as within academia? Looking for advice on how to articulate your value on a resume?

Advice is coming your way in ”From Skills to Results: Describing Your PhD Skills to Non-Academic Employers,” an interactive workshop facilitated by Paula Chambers, founder and CEO of The Versatile PhD. Dr. Chambers will describe her own bumpy journey from graduate student to grant writer to business owner. She’ll talk about the current academic job market and demystify how to identify and articulate your transferable skills, so that you are demonstrably “versatile” enough to take advantage of diverse opportunities after graduation.

In the work shop you will:

•    Learn where the PhD career pipeline really goes
•    Take inventory of the skills you have used in grad school
•    Identify concrete results you have achieved with those skills
•    Learn how to describe those results in non-academic language
•    Discover new career resources at OSU

The event is free and open to all, though space is limited. Please register at https://gradsch.osu.edu/calendar/events/skills-to-results-describing-your-phd-skills-to-non-academic-employers
