CEM will be hosting Prof. Len Brillson for a CEM Industry Seminar titled “Changing Roles of Researchers in Industry”.

Abstract

Major changes have occurred in the industrial research environment over the past three decades. Dynamic global competition in the marketplace has altered the traditional roles of researchers in industry while offering new career opportunities. This talk will describe the opportunities and challenges facing scientists and engineers in a wide spectrum of responsibilities, from the bench to the executive suite. Drawing on perspectives from several leading technology-based industries, this talk will highlight the skills and knowledge required for success in this new environment.

Bio

Professor Len Brillson holds appointments at Ohio State University in the departments of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Physics. His lab researches advanced electronic materials, thin films and interfaces, centered on single crystal complex oxides, semiconductors, and polycrystalline photovoltaics at the nanoscale. He formerly directed Xerox Corporation’s Materials Research Laboratory and was responsible for Xerox’s physical science and technology programs.
