2022 Workshop: Topological Electrons

We are excited to announce an in-person conference, “Topological Quantum Electrons Interacting In-person”, to be held in beautiful Quy Nhon, Vietnam from July 10-16, 2022.

2022 Workshop: Spin Caloritronics XI

Dear Colleagues:

We are happy to notify you that the Spin Caloritronics XI abstract submission and registration are now open. This workshop is the 11th in a series of international conferences on the interplay of magnetism, spin dynamics, lattice vibrations, electronic excitations, temperature, and heat. Spin Caloritronics XI will be held on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana, IL, USA from May 23 to 27, 2022, with a meet-and-greet on the evening of Sunday, May 22. The conference program will include invited presentations by leaders of the field and contributed talks and poster sessions. You can find further information about the venue, lodging, and transportation at https://publish.illinois.edu/spin-cal-xi.

The website is now updated with a list of invited speakers, as well as abstract submission and conference registration information.

Abstract Submission:  On the abstract submission page, you will find a word document abstract template to be used for abstracts. These should be submitted by e-mail to Dr. Pamela Pena Martin (pmartin9@illinois.edu). Please see the website for more information.

Registration:  All attendees must also register for the conference as well. Please fill out the registration form on the registration page of the website. [UMAAC] Social for South Asians in Astronomy and Physics

Astronomy and Physics Departments,

I’m the chair of UMAAC, the undergraduate majors of astronomy and astrophysics committee. We plan events and seek to improve the climate and overall experience of astronomy undergraduates.

I’m reaching out to gauge interest about a social for South Asians in astronomy/physics. This would be an informal event geared towards connecting South Asian undergraduate, graduate students, and faculty.

NSF: Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI-2022/23)

Full Proposal Deadline Date: March 10, 2022 

The Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) program of the NSF Directorate for Engineering (ENG) serves a critical role in helping ENG focus on important emerging areas in a timely manner. This solicitation is a funding opportunity for interdisciplinary teams of researchers to embark on rapidly advancing frontiers of fundamental engineering research. For this solicitation, we will consider proposals that aim to investigate emerging frontiers in one of the following two research areas:

  • Engineered Living Systems (ELiS)
  • Brain-Inspired Dynamics for Engineering Energy-Efficient Circuits and Artificial Intelligence (BRAID)

This solicitation will be coordinated with the Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO), the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE), the Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS), the Directorate for Geosciences (GEO), and the Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE), along with Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), Department of Defense – Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

EFRI seeks proposals with potentially transformative ideas that represent an opportunity for a significant shift in fundamental engineering knowledge with a strong potential for long term impact on national needs or a grand challenge. The proposals must also meet the detailed requirements delineated in this solicitation.
