alumna Amanda Belding, is headed to Texas to present with her team at SpaceX. Their Capstone project submitted ideas for Hyperloop travel in competition with more than 300 other university submissions, and are among the finalists.

The 2016 Ohio State Business Plan Competition is now underway in the Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (TEC) Institute at OSU. The competition aims to develop of technologies, provide students with educational workshops, and offer substantial resources for winning student teams to launch their ventures. CEM congratulates Director P. C
hris Hammel on his election to the Physics Section of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His term on the Physics Electorate Nominating Committee will begin February, 2016.
This w
eek the CEM mobilized a total of 45 volunteers to go to Innis Elementary school in Columbus, Ohio, including undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and staff. About 450 students benefited from the program, with such demos as Energy Bike, Crystalline Snowflakes, Chemistry Show, Helicopters and Autorotation, How Does My Computer Work, and many others.
The program PI is CEM professor Nandini Trivedi (IRG-1), with staff support by Michelle McCombs and Erin Rinehart, and onsite coordination by Innis Elementary Teacher Theresa Barber.
