In this public lecture, Dr. Jevin West will be delving into the hidden and surprising ways that inequalities in gender are still present in the realm of scholarly publishing. Dr. West will highlight his findings and the implications of his results for understanding diversity in academia, within publishing practices and beyond. Furthermore, Dr. West will offer a brief explanation of how this data was obtained and interpreted, and discuss the ways in which other researchers can explore this rich data set to uncover other trends in scholarly publishing.
Dr. West’s visit is co-sponsored by the University Libraries and Ohio State ADVANCE. Dr. West will also be meeting with the OSU Journal Editors’ Group for a discussion on this topic at 1pm. Please see the Editors’ Group page for more information: go.osu.edu/osu-journal-editors-group.
